BeenThere

Community Guidelines

BeenThere is about one thing: proving where you've been. These guidelines keep the game fair and the community safe. They apply to everything you do in the App: your profile, notes, memoirs, avatars, challenges, and how you treat other explorers. By using BeenThere you agree to follow them, along with our Terms of Service.

Play it straight

Respect other explorers

Keep your content clean

Your notes, memoirs, photos, avatars, and username must not include:

Avatar generation must use a photo of you (or someone who has clearly consented). Don't generate avatars from photos of strangers, public figures, or children.

Reporting and blocking

To report someone, open their profile, tap the menu in the top-right, and choose Report User. Pick what's wrong — harassment, sexual or explicit content, hate speech, impersonation, violence, spam, a self-harm concern, or something else — and add any detail that helps. Reports are confidential: the person you report is never told who reported them.

To stop contact entirely, block them. They lose the ability to find you in search, send you a friend request, or see you. Blocking and reporting are independent — you can do either or both.

We review every report within 24 hours. You can also email support@beentherenow.app with a username and description if you'd rather not use the in-app flow, though we can't respond individually to every message.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We are not an emergency service.

How we enforce

Depending on severity, we may: remove the offending content (clearing a generated avatar, resetting a display name or username); void stamps, badges, or leaderboard entries; issue a warning; suspend an account temporarily; or permanently terminate it.

A suspended account can't send friend requests or challenges, share maps or cards, or change its profile, and stops appearing in search and suggestions. It can still read its own data and delete itself — a suspension is not a way to hold your data hostage.

Serious threats or safety issues may be referred to law enforcement. We don't owe cheaters an appeal, but honest mistakes happen. If you believe we got it wrong, email support@beentherenow.app and we'll take a second look.

These guidelines are part of, and interpreted alongside, the BeenThere Terms of Service. We may update them as the community grows; material changes will be announced in the App.
